National Technical Assistant for ACP Migration Facility in Tanzania
The Intra-ACP Facility for Migration project (funded by the EC and managed by the ACP Secretariat), through its Project Management Unit, is offering technical assistance to ACP States and Regional Organisations to help them better understand and manage their migration flows, as well as integrate migration
issues into national and regional policy, including for economic, social and cultural development. The overall aim of the project is to capitalise on the positive effects of migration for development of the ACP region.
In this context WYG International is currently recruiting a Technical Assistant to support the project in the two pilot countries of East Africa: Kenya and Tanzania.
The Technical Assistant will work with the governments of the two pilot countries, Kenya and Tanzania, as well as with civil societ, reinforcing its participation in policy dialogue on migration issues.
The Technical Assistants will be based in: either one of the two pilot countries (with regular travel to the other). This is a full time position, based on 10.5 working months per calendar year, starting as soon as possible until the end of the project in June 2013.
Requirements
Experience required:
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in the following fields: public sector/ government entities institutional capacity building, support to civil society, reforms of State or ACP institutions, development policy, state governance and legal issues, migration issues
• Excellent knowledge of the ACP States, particularly East Africa, including sound working experience in at least one of the pilot countries.
• Experiment of intra-ACP migration issues, with a good understanding of “migration and development” issues.
• Experience in the implementation of development projects and/or public policy projects in ACP States
• Experience of supporting civil society organisations
Responsibilities
Activities of the Technical Assistants will include, but not be limited to:
• Facilitate an inventory of knowledge of national / regional institutions and civil society;
• Support the formulation and implementation of training activities for all stakeholders
• Capacity building activities, including institutional capacity building, dialogues forums, working groups, civil society strengthening, specific inputs on “migration and development” issues, etc
• Assist in the drafting of national strategies and national action plans
• Supports the organisation of forums of dialogue on migration (dialogue between national / regional institutions and civil society)
• Support or develop initiatives able to contribute to a better public-private dialogue;
• To set up a system of communication to promote the activities of the Facility to all stakeholders in the different regions.
