Project/Proposal Summary: Zimbabwe aims to reduce maternal mortality to 300 deaths per live births and halt the spread of HIV/AIDS by 2015. A critical part of these goals will be to address mother-to-child transmission of HIV (MTCT).This five year second year PMTCT program will: a) provide technical and other assistance to the national level of the PMTCT Program; b) strengthen provision of clinical services for comprehensive PMTCT; c) strengthen pediatric HIV services; d) conduct operations research; and e) strengthen the continuum of care for mother, infant and family.

Position Summary: Responsible for training and providing technical assistance to PMTCT facilities.

Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with the Ministry of Health and Child Welfare (MOHCW) counterparts to provide technical assistance in the scale up of PMTCT provision per the WHO 2010 guidelines.
• Support partners through capacity building, monitoring visits and targeted trainings in related areas including family planning, nutrition, safe delivery, counseling and testing, ART, early infant diagnosis, etc.
• Liaise with MOHCW partners to assure that district-level programs are supported and that technical inputs and needs are identified and are reflected in health systems strengthening activities including M and E, in-service trainings, human resources management, supply chain, etc.
• As needed at national level, provide practical guidance on indicators.
• Support M and E by ensuring that partners from the facilities through the MOHCW understand the required indicators, their source, and ways to mitigate errors that may affect data quality or timeliness. .
• Provide technical input for national level planning, performance reviews, program updates, as detailed in the annual work plan.

Qualifications:

• Must have background in community nursing, nursing, or midwifery.
• Demonstrated experience with public PMTCT services delivery in Zimbabwe.
• Prefer candidates with experience in the provision of a continuum of care for PMTCT clients per the WHO 2010 guidelines.
• MPH is highly desired but not required.
• Exposure and experience in adult ART or pediatric ART preferred.
• Citizens of SADC member countries preferred.
• Training and good communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with mid and senior level government counterparts desired.
