We currently have openings for Seed Technicians. Seed Technicians
are involved in all facets of seed production within a location. This
may include conditioning, packaging and warehousing. This position is
located at our Oxnard, CA Facility.
Our Seed Technicians are key members of our team ensuring the
highest quality product for our customers. Working at the front-end of
our production, Seed Technicians are essential to the overall success of
our company and the timely, efficient, and high-quality product
delivery.
In this position you will work closely with, and support other
on-site personnel in an effort to continuously improve our processes and
consistently establish the highest standards in the industry for
safety, seed quality, cost, and supply reliability.
Responsibilities:
· Set up, run, clean, disassemble and assemble processing lines and
equipment.
· Pull and collects seed samples following established procedures.
· Ensures safe seed handling.
· Performs data validation and recording of information.
· Follow established written policies and procedures.
· Operates industrial machinery in a safe manner according to established
procedures.
· Verifies seed varieties on work processing.
· Reports problems identified during seed handling.
· Understands and complies with Monsanto Safety guidelines and
housekeeping practices, trainings and wear appropriate PPE.
Qualifications
Work Experience:
Seed operations experience, material handling experience desired.
Required Skills / Experience:
· High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
· Ability to read and write in English.
· Minimum of 1 year experience working in a related field.
· Ability to drive a forklift.
· Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure (including
whole numbers, common fractions and decimals).
· Ability to understand procedures and work instructions (written and/or verbal)
and follow them (written and/or verbal).
· .
· Ability to work different shifts, weekends and overtime as needed. Generally,
first shift runs from 6 AM to 2:30 PM and the 2nd shift runs from 2PM to
10:30PM.
· Ability to use scales and conditioning equipment.
Desired Skills / Experience:
- AA Preferred
- Mechanical abilities (able to operate and trouble shoot equipment).
- Certified Crop Advisor.
- Familiarity with Windows Operating Systems / Basic computer skills.
- Prior agricultural experience.
- Experience in SAP preferred.
- Demonstrated full knowledge of manual pack including setup and operation of Packaging equipment, semi-automated lines, etc. (Packaging).
- Able to do basic upgrades and have basic understanding of physical seed appearance evaluation
While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly
required to stand, reach with hands and arms, in addition employee
frequently is required to walk; use hands, fingers, handle, or feel;
must be able to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, must be able to
regularly lift / move 10 pounds and frequently lift / move up to 60
pounds (or up to individual capabilities).
Work Environment:
Working conditions are normal for an industrial manufacturing
environment. Machinery operation requires the use of safety personal
protection equipment to include but not limited to; safety glasses,
hearing protection, work boots, hardhats, uniforms and masks at all
