COUNTRY DIRECTOR -- ANGLOPHONE WEST AFRICA


The International Division of the National Center for State Courts (NCSC) is seeking expressions of interest for the position of Country Director for anticipated future projects in Anglophone West Africa.
The position of Country Director is responsible for the technical direction of NCSC projects and the oversight of project finances and human resources. Prior experience managing donor-funded projects and project teams is required.
About Us: Founded more than 40 years ago by the leaders of the U.S. courts to deliver on the promise of Equal Justice Under Law, NCSC is a private, non-profit organization providing technical assistance, training, and technology to advance justice in the 50 U.S. states and around the world. NCSC partners with donor agencies, host-country governments, and non-governmental organizations to improve the transparency and efficiency of justice systems and promote equal access to justice for all.

Qualifications


Qualified candidates will have:
  • Demonstrated experience leading or working on Rule of Law development projects in the region, including projects that have facilitated access to justice, promoted justice system efficiency, reduced opportunities for corruption, and improved public sector accountability.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with host-country counterparts, donor funding agencies, and international organizations.
  • Prior professional experience and expertise in judicial sector governance, judicial administration, legislative and regulatory drafting, or public policy.
  • In-depth understanding of needs assessment processes, work planning, implementation scheduling, monitoring and evaluation, and reporting.
  • Diplomatic demeanor; problem-solving skills; creativity; and flexibility needed to perform effectively in challenging work environments.
  • An advanced degree in a relevant field such as law, public administration, or international affairs.
  • Fluency in English.
