Head of Country Coordination: Asia Members Home Country Based in the Asia Cluster where ActionAid has an office International Terms and Conditions of Service apply, International Grade F (basic salary GB£54,372)
Reporting to the Director of Country Coordination (DoCC), The Country Coordination Team Leader plays a critical partner role, connecting the needs of the AAI Federation Members and Country Programmes in delivering the International Strategy and the International Secretariat who will be the servant-leader to members. This role will be delivered through a senior level of strategic engagement and coordination; capacity building and strengthening of members and country programmes, and also ensuring member compliance and commitment to the aspirations of the AAI Federation. The Team Leader will contribute to and enable the respective countries continuous growth, performance and programme impact.
Key Deliverables will include, but are not limited to: • Strategic Leadership through implementing the strategic direction of ActionAid International, cascading and reinforcing the Federation’s mission, vision, values and direction and supporting Country Leadership to deliver their CSPs and role in the Federation. • Country Enablement and Support through working with other Directorates to ensure appropriate and timely support to Members and Country Programmes ; Improving the quality of delivery on the Federation’s mission through appropriate reviews and shared learning; Managing of fund allocation, budgets and utilizing convening power within the cluster to improve performance and impact. • Compliance Support to Associates/Affiliates in the cluster on adherence to compliance issues; effective conflict resolution amongst members and other parts of the Federation; management and adherence to the matrix working system, including the monitoring/withdrawal of international tasks; ensuring high quality programmes and partnerships and supporting fundraising drives of cluster members. • Organisation Development and Capacity Building for the Cluster working closely with the HROD and Governance Partner to ensure organizational health, sustained performance and strengthening of governance practices and systems • People management coordination through performance standards setting, monitoring and support with respective national boards; Director of Country Coordination and/or International HR. Desired Skills & Experience The ideal candidate will be a graduate who is experienced as a general manager of multi-country operations. This is not a programme role but one that requires the ability to coordinate, build capacity and execute for results. • At least 7 years knowledge, understanding and experience in the INGO sector, working on poverty and social justice. • 5 years in a leadership or senior management position as part of a senior management team with ultimate Board accountability; • Strong aptitude for fundraising, developing partnerships with institutional donors, and communications with external audiences. • Extensive staff management experience in a large, decentralized organization and in a complex, uncertain international environment • Proven track record of managing, motivating and supporting staff, peers and especially performance management; having an appreciation for and the ability to work in a multicultural context; • Understanding of governance practices in a global federation • The ability to influence cross functionally both peers and multiple teams in a decentralized environment; • Listening, learning, empowering and result-oriented leadership style and management practice; • Customer facing skills including needs assessment; relationship building, negotiation and mediation • Excellent analytical and strategic planning skills; • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and desirable in the language where the cluster is based • Candidates should have knowledge of the development context of the specific region they are applying.
