Program Advisor Institutional Funding , Amsterdam


Fundraising is essential for reaching as many war affected children as possible. Funds are raised for War Child’s programs and projects at different levels. The responsibility for fundraising with institutional donors rests with the Institutional Funding Unit (IFU) and the War Child Program Areas (WPA’s), both part of the Programme Department. The Program Advisor Institutional Funding (PAIF) is part of the Institutional Funding Unit (IFU) and reports from a line position directly to the Manager of the IFU. The Program Advisor Institutional Funding works closely together with other IFU members and the country teams. The IFU consists of a Manager, a Programme Advisor Foundations, Institutional Funding Specialist, Conn@ct.Now Coordinator and a Grant specialist. Changes are expected in the course of 2013, when IFU will become part of the Marketing & Fundraising department.
Duty station: preferably in Amsterdam (or in/ close by one of the WPA’s).
Challenge The Program Advisor Institutional Funding will be responsible for identifying fundraising opportunities for War Child Holland and either lead, coordinate or support these efforts by working in proposal development teams, to ensure timely and quality submissions to donors. This will include extensive (technical) writing of proposals for institutional donors. The Program Advisor Institutional Funding is also Fundraising Focal Point for a number of War Child Holland’s country programs, also known as War Child Program Areas (WPA’s) and will support the development of country fundraising strategies and the subsequent implementation of fundraising action plans. The PAIF will provide support to strengthening the fundraising capacity in WPA’s.
Profile • More than 3 years academic work experience in the area of fundraising; • More than 2 years of relevant international work experience; • Technical expertise in at least one of the War Child thematic areas (e.g. Education, Child Protection, Psychosocial Support); • A proven track record of writing winning technical programs responding to GRANT solicitations in limited amount of time;
• Knowledge of developments and donor trends in the international aid sector; • Strong relationship builder and diplomatic skills; • Strong in building and maintaining networks; • Excellent writing skills in English; • Additional languages: French, Arabic, Dutch and/or Spanish are a plus; • Excellent organizational skills and eye for detail; • Willingness to travel (40%) is a must.
