Columnists SciDev.Net United Kingdom
Call for Columnists
SciDev.Net is the world’s leading source of news and analysis on science and technology for the global south. Our mission is to put science at the heart of global development, allowing decision-makers to draw on evidence and insights from science for more effective policy and programmes.
What technical innovation this year could have the biggest impact on
people living in poverty in West African cities?
What does the life of a scientist in Cambodia suggest about
the state of gender relations in South-East Asia?
We are launching a new series of columns in January 2013 that will place science news in the context of international development debates, exploring questions like these and providing insights on issues of long-standing or emerging concern to the development sector.
We are looking for contributors with expertise in the areas of gender; poverty and vulnerability; people with disabilities; migrants; and the private sector. An interest in science would be an asset as would an opinionated disposition.
Each 350-word column will address one of the five themes above.
Columnists will work in collaboration with SciDev.Net's deputy news and opinions editor to develop ideas for topics, challenging the worlds of science and development policy in equal measure. You will, of course, be expected to monitor both science and international development news closely.
For more information on the themes we intend to cover visit here.
Application procedure
Applicants should forward a CV, covering letter and 350-word sample column based on a recent SciDev.Net news story of their choice to jobs@scidev.net.
