ICRC French-to-English Translator


THE INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE OF THE RED CROSS (ICRC), an independent humanitarian organization whose mandate is to provide protection and assistance for victims of armed conflict and internal disturbances, is seeking to recruit an experienced
French-to-English Translator (activity rate: 80%) based in Geneva, Switzerland
Main responsibilities As a member of a motivated team of professional translators, the successful candidate will translate and revise a wide range of texts in a variety of styles (operational reports and legal documents, web articles, etc.) from French into English. He or she will also edit texts written in English.
Selection criteria • English mother tongue • excellent English-language writing skills • advanced knowledge of French, other languages an asset • robust approach to translation and editing • strong interpersonal skills • solid computer skills (Microsoft Office) • familiarity with CAT tools (particularly Trados and terminology tools) • knowledge of international law or related fields an asset
Minimum length of assignment: 2 years, renewable
Desired starting date: 1 April 2013
