About SMEC New Zealand
SMEC New Zealand, based in Newmarket, was established in Auckland in October 2011 and during the first year of operation has successfully provided consultancy services to the power, energy, hydropower and dams sectors for both New Zealand and offshore projects. Our goal is to grow this business into a formidable consultancy, extending into other infrastructure engineering areas, with a target of 30 staff within 12 months.

The role
SMEC NZ is now at the stage where we are seeking a Managing Director to take the business to the next level. In this key position you will be responsible for:
·  Growing the NZ business both in the New Zealand market and in support of SMEC's iconic offshore infrastructure projects
·  High-level strategic decision making, and in conjunction with SMEC NZ's senior management team, setting the direction the of the business
·  Ensuring a profitable and viable business
·  Representing SMEC NZ to the SMEC senior management team and board of directors.

Suitable applicants will have/be:
·  Relevant tertiary qualifications in engineering, additional tertiary qualifications in business will be advantageous
·  Experience working in a professional consultancy environment.
·  Established networks throughout the New Zealand infrastructure industry
·  Previous achievements in business development, winning work and managing client relationships
·  A recognised ability to communicate convincingly and engage employees to achieve the company's set objectives
·  Demonstrated experience in in managing budgets and financial resources.

The role will be supported by the current SMEC NZ management team, including three Technical Directors and an experienced Business Development Manager.
