Medical Equipment Engineer United Nations Office for Project Services
Under the guidance and supervision of the Project Manager (PM) the Medical Equipment Engineer will be responsible for conducting all the tasks associated with the market and industry research, installation, commissioning, testing and training of the medical equipment and systems for the Health Infrastructure Unit.

- Conduct market and industry research of medical equipment specified in the project contract.
- Installing and comminissioning acquired medical equipment/systems.
- Review and consolidate the equipment list by type of service;
- Create and maintain procurement plan;
- Evaluate operational performance of the seleted equipment and recommend procurement or alternate sources;
- Prepare technical specifications, bill of quantities and the scope of work for the procurement of the medical equipment/systems and ensure they are included in the tender documents.
- Work with Procurement team in the bid evaluation process to identify suppliers, develop suppliers selection and qualification criteria.
- Assist Procurement Officr in the supply contract negotiation;
- Perform supplier risk assessment for medical equipment/systems ensuring that works are carried out as per contract and specifications prior installation.
- Prepare equipment implementation schedules for each health center.
- Supervision of installation of the medical equipment / systems ensuring that works are carried out as per contract and the specifications.
- Carry out acceptance testing of imported medical equipment, at projects site, according to the scope of work and specifications prior installation.
- Prepare different reports: progress review, contracts close-out and hand over reports to the different stakeholders as required.
- Responsible of the training for medical staff on operation as necessary and demonstrate the correct, safe and accurate use of medical equipment.
- Maintain essential stock records;
- Responsible of the post-acquisition activity of the medical equipment by reviewing the medical assets / systems operational performance; create performance reports; ensure warranty and service maintenance if it is required.
- Create and maintain preventive and operational maintenance plans for all medical equipment / systems installed under the project, and ensure these plans are hand over to the client upon project completion.
- Follow up and certify contractor’s progress payment and claims regarding all medical equipment items acquired.
- Assess local capacity in operation and maintenance of medical equipment to be acquired for then needs of the Health Infrastructure projects
- Recommend action plan for the operation and maintenance of medical equipment to the Ministry of Health
- Collaborate with the Ministry of Health and the donors in order to define the list of equipment based on local needs
- Travel to suppliers and Health Care’s sites will be required.
In addition to the above tasks, the medical equipment Engineer is responsible for performing individual tasks when instructed to do so by his supervisor that are in line with his/her activities for business reasons.
