Operations Director (Mobile Industry) Clayton Desant


An Operations Director is required for a trade association based in Brussels.
The organisation’s immediate priority is to advance their members public policy concerns at an EU level on issues related to the telecoms and wider mobile technology environment.  They work to ensure member views on policy and legislative developments are heard, understood and factored into the decisions that shape policy, regulatory and legislative outcomes.
You will be responsible for ensuring that the European working groups work to identify policy priorities, define objectives and develop and agree positions.  The groups focus on EU policy developments where the threats/opportunities are significant, where members can agree on clear objectives and effective positions and where there is strong potential for positive outcomes. 
In addition, your responsibilities will include:
  • Overseeing and directing the administration of working groups, sub-groups, and the Chief Regulatory Officers Group for Europe,
  • Assessing and reporting the extent to which policy objectives are met, and key messages are heard, understood and supported by the EU stakeholders they are targeting,
  • The programmes being undertaken within the European working groups are fully supported by the relevant organisational departments, programme leads  and subject matter experts,
  • The working groups’ output is properly linked into the dialogue and decision making that takes place at the higher level regional governance group, consisting of the Chief Regulatory Officers from the region’s membership (CROG Europe),
  • Stakeholder databases are fit for purpose, up-to-date and an effective tool in day-today advocacy work.
To be considered, you will demonstrate the following:
  • Knowledge of mobile telecommunications regulation and an awareness of the commercial priorities and business models of mobile network operators across Europe,
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience of managing projects and/or committees,
  • Proven track record of interacting with internal and external stakeholders, including C-level executives,
  • Knowledge of EU players and processes,
  • Experience of working in an international environment,
  • Able to draft clearly, accurately and effectively in English,
  • Able to lead processes from inception to completion, and to collaborate effectively with a broad range of stakeholders, colleagues and members.

  • Salary: Up to 108,000€ + 15% bonus and excellent benefits
