Cefic, the European Chemical Industry Council, is both the forum and voice of the European chemical industry. It aims to maintain and develop a prosperous chemical industry in Europe by promoting the best possible economic, social and environmental conditions to bring benefits to society.
Cefic is located in Auderghem, Brussels, Belgium and employs more than 160 people. Euro Chlor is an affiliate to Cefic, representing 98% of the chlor-alkali industry in Europe. On behalf of its members, the Federation is active in the areas of regulatory affairs, technology and safety, science and communication.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert advice and support in the context of the science activities of Euro Chlor;
  • Manage Euro Chlor Task Forces relevant to the field of expertise, such as the biocide groups, environmental working group;
  • Support expertise to Euro Chlor groups, such as the Health working group;
  • Manage the (environmental) science projects of Euro Chlor;
  • Gathering, analysing and reporting relevant data;
  • Manage the science sections of the Euro Chlor website;
  • Research and write science-based communication material in simple English;
  • Represent Euro Chlor at relevant venues, such as SETAC Europe;
  • Respond to members, external audiences, maintain and expand the network;
  • Ensuring that timelines and quality specifications are respected at all times in order to contribute to the optimal functioning of the organisation.

Skills, Competencies and Experience

  • University background, preferably a PhD in (environmental) chemistry, ecotoxicology or comparable;
  • Able to critically analyse scientific information and to manage data;
  • Outstanding communication, organisational and interpersonal skills, ability to speak and write clearly and concisely;
  • Excellent level in English (both spoken and written), native English speaker is preferred;
  • Good understanding of the chemical industry;
  • Knowledge of the European institutions and relevant regulatory areas (REACH, Biocides, GLP, Regulatory Affairs) is an asset;
  • Team-player and ability to work independently;
  • Curious, fast learning and willing to improve continuously.
