The role
We are currently seeking a Transport Demand Modeller for Greater Dhaka Sustainable Transport - Package: 3 Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management, to work closely with our other specialists in Bangladesh
·  The international specialist is responsible for completion of Task 1 Traffic Surveys and Transport Demand Modelling, including developing a transport model that can be used by the transport planner during the negotiations with operators. At the start of the assignment, the specialist also organizes the traffic surveys necessary to provide the inputs required for the travel demand model, and for the design of the traffic signal timing plans at junctions.
·   The specialist provides on the job direction and knowledge transfer to its counterpart specialist within the SPO core staff.
·  Timely submission of all project deliverables, all record keeping, and participating in all meetings/briefings as required by the Contract between SMEC and its client
·  Coordinating the Specialist's tasks throughout the project, for preparing, updating, and maintaining the project detailed plan and schedule, and for providing advice and assistance to the client
·  Develop all lines of communication and liaise with the client
·  Provide overall project management support to the Client and assist in monitoring subprojects
·  Assist the Client in developing formats to be used for all reports and submissions
·  Regularly update the project implementation schedule
·  Provide technical expertise in urban transport planning including public transport planning, traffic management, pedestrianisation and project implementation
The program will commence Early 2013 and run for 10 month.
Suitable applicants will have/be:
·  Master's Degree in a relevant discipline and an internationally recognized professional qualification.
·  At least 20 years' experience in transport modeling, including at least 10 years in public transport, assignments in developing countries and on projects funded by ADB or other IFI.
·  Demonstrated capacity building skills.
