BBC Essex is an award winning radio station and we are proud of the high standard of our output. The patch is a mix of urban, coastal and rural communities - there's no shortage of stories here, but what matters is how we cover them for our listeners.

Role

6 month fixed term contract/attachment

We're looking to recruit a Broadcast Journalist to join our mid-morning team working as a dedicated producer for the Dave Monk Show. It’s an energetic, live three hour show, with a high profile presenter. The programme covers a wide variety of stories every day reflecting real life in Essex, holding people to account, covering breaking news, showcasing the community and entertaining the listener.
The Broadcast Journalist for this role is a strong producer who can direct live programmes from a busy studio, plan and research compelling local output. We are looking for someone who can bring the best original stories and the best callers to air. They will also need to have good people skills to work within the team to get the best performance possible from our presenter as well as to co-coordinate a small unit of staff.
You will be sharing responsibility for this important part of the output with another experienced BJ. On rare occasions you may be asked to fulfil other BJ shifts or to work at the weekend.

Requirements

Our ideal candidate would have experience of live studio production, creative programme production and strong journalistic skills.
Ideally the successful applicant would be able to take up the job in February 2013..
