Position Summary
Engineers can be found in every area of BG Group; from discipline engineering experts and commercial managers, to project directors and plant operation specialists, and even the Chief Executive himself. As an engineer you’ll be an integral part of our company, with the opportunity to grow your international career in any direction.
Engineering and Operations are in fact two separate functions within the business but are very closely interlinked and you will gain experience in both areas throughout the programme.
You could experience a placement in any one of these fields; Developments, Projects or Operations. Along the way, you will experience different phases in the project lifecycle, different business sectors and, indeed, different cultures.
This is your chance to work for a rapidly growing business with real challenges, real rewards and a very real opportunity to progress your international career.
Key Accountabilities
The core accountability of the IGDP is to develop and build on a range of skills and behaviours through exposure to the business in a variety of placements within Engineering and Operations.
The IGDP placements may include:
  • Developments: To assess the technical feasibility of a new development.
  • Projects: To provide technical support to get new plants designed, built and commissioned.
  • Operations: To ensure existing Assets operate safely and efficiently.
As part of your development there is a strong emphasis on self study and gaining Chartered Engineer status. So as well as real-world, industry experience, you’ll benefit from a wealth of technical training. This balance of on-the-job learning and formal skills development mirrors and complements the expectations of Engineering Institutions such as the IMechE, IChemE, IET, ICE and InstMC.
Every individual has a duty to both themselves and those around them to ensure that safe practice is adhered to at all times. In addition to any specific accountability for HSSE, all employees are accountable for ensuring that they take care of themselves and adopt exemplary safe behaviours.
Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute
Minimum qualification: Masters Degree (or equivalent)

Subjects: Chemical/Process, Mechanical, Aeronautical, Electrical, Electronic/Control/Instruments Engineering
As part of the IGDP you will be required to;
  • Be highly motivated to learn and well disciplined in managing your time.
  • Bring an attitude of willingness to actively participate in our health, safety, security and environmental culture.
  • Be fluent in English, written and verbal, with fluency in at least one other language a plus
Since at least one or more of your placements will be based overseas, you must be prepared to live and work away from home for extended periods. You must also have the confidence, influence, patience and cultural sensitivity to make the most of the opportunity that presents itself.
