Lecturer in Health Services Research

We are seeking an enthusiastic quantitative researcher who will join a multi-disciplinary team undertaking a Department of Health (England) funded programme to evaluate two aspects of dementia care. The post-holder will be responsible for co-ordinating and managing an evaluation of memory assessment services (MAS), including: designing and implementing an organisational survey to determine key characteristics of MASs in England, recruiting and liaising with sites, helping to train clinic staff in administering PROMs questionnaires, maintaining the commitment of MAS staff, dealing with queries and troubleshooting. The post-holder will also be responsible for the analysis of the data from the MAS evaluation to determine the impact (effectiveness) of MAS on the health related quality of life (HRQL) of patients and their lay carers and to investigate associations between patients’ and MAS characteristics with the quality of life of patients and their carers. The post is for 30 months and will be based in the Department of Health Services Research & Policy, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
BackgroundThe post is funded by the Department of Health (England) and is part of a programme that also involves the evaluation of the withdrawal of anti-psychotic drugs from people with dementia and methodological research on the measurement of health related quality of life (HRQL) of people with dementia. The programme is a collaboration with the Alzheimer’s Society.
Salary will be in the lecturer range £42,043 - £47,322 per annum, inclusive.
