Research Fellow/Research Assistant in Epidemiology

FACULTY OF EPIDEMIOLOGY AND POPULATION HEALTH
(Full time or Part time, minimum 0.6 FTE)
We are seeking to appoint a Research Fellow/Research Assistant with an interest in cardiovascular diseases, clinical trials and complementary therapies particularly yoga. The post is based in the Department of Non-Communicable Disease Epidemiology at LSHTM, and is funded by the Medical Research Council (MRC), UK. The award is made jointly with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) to study the “Effects of a yoga-based cardiac rehabilitation programme (Yoga-CaRe) on cardiovascular health: a clinical trial (India) and a mechanistic study (UK)”. Applicants must have a post-graduate qualification (Master or PhD) in epidemiology or related field, proven research experience using quantitative methods, willing to travel to India several times over the course of the project, and excellent communication and team-working skills cross-culturally in India and the UK. Proven experience of epidemiological fieldwork, particularly clinical trials, and working in cardiovascular medicine, particularly cardiac rehabilitation, is desirable.
The successful applicant will be appointed on a full-time or part-time (minimum 0.6 FTE) basis for a period of 30 months. The appointment will be made on the School’s Research Fellow scale (£36,018-£40,904 per annum) or Research Assistant scale (£31,376-£36,018 per annum).
