The Organisation
BG Group is a founding member of Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B. V. (KPO) which oversees the development of the giant Karachaganak oil and gas condensate field in the northwest of Kazakhstan. Karachaganak covers an area of more than 280 square kilometres with estimated gross reserves of over 2.4 billion barrels of condensate and 16 trillion cubic feet of gas. The Karachaganak field is one of the biggest internationally-funded and most technologically challenging projects in Kazakhstan.
 
Along with exsisting operations and modification programmes, KPO is now pushing forward major major gas development projects which has increased the work scope in-country.
Position Summary
There are currently roles in the KPO Joint venture company for the following skill-sets:

- Civil/Structural Engineers - Engineering Execution
- Civil/Structural Engineer - Technical Authority

Key Accountabilities
Be the focal point for all activities associated with Civil Engineering:

-BOD input / development, civil deliverables, performance and quality criteria, schedule and cost criteria
-Civil criteria, standards, specifications
-Selection / development of civil technologies & systems, Civil Data Sheets, Works Specifications, quantities and materials
-Inputs to material selection, Lifting and Mechanical Handling facilities and procedures, startup and operating procedures, Operating Descriptions, Operating Manual
-Civil procurement tender and PO documentation, bid evaluations / recommendations, Vendor data review cycles
-Civil risks, interfaces, Lessons Learnt inputs, Reviews (Hazid, Layout, Risk, Value, and their closures)
-TQs, 3rd party design verification, Operations Assurance Plan

• Mentor, coach and lead direct reports

Health Safety and Environment (HSE)
• Every individual has a duty to both themselves and those around them to ensure that safe practice is adhered to at all times. In addition to any specific accountabilities for piping and mechanical engineering all staff are accountable for HSE within their area of the business and are responsible for ensuring that their team adopt exemplary HSE
Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute
  • Verifiable record in engineering and successful development and delivery of a number of green-field and brown-field projects
  • Experience in application of civil engineering practices and in value improvement tools and practices
  • Tertiary qualifications applicable to the civil engineering discipline or relevant experience
  • Chartered member of a relevant engineering institution (preferred)
  • Good understanding of site preparation, plant foundations, drainage and effluent treatment, transportable and fixed structures and buildings technologies, policies and business principles, with appropriate standards and guidelines
  • Able to relate well to the project’s internal and external customers – Operations, construction, procurement, neighbouring engineering disciplines.
  • Capability to oversee and influence contractors and suppliers through design, procurement, construction and commissioning phases of the project
  • Demonstrable commitment to HSSE, HSSE leadership and improvements to HSSE practice – in the CPP facilities and in its development project
  • Demonstrable ability to identify interfaces and to work closely alongside operations teams throughout FEED, detailed design, procurement, construction and commissioning
  • Good interpersonal skills and self motivated
  • Strong communicator, able to state key process goals and objectives, and present them clearly to the project team and to stakeholders
