Procurement specialist - strategic sourcing


A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join the Department for International Development’s ambitious strategic procurement team.

We are involved in the procurement of a wide range of goods and services, including managing OJEU competitions to appoint suppliers with the expertise to design and deliver international development projects overseas.  We are also developing and implementing category strategies and framework agreements for key areas of spend and working to help DFID manage major supplier relationships more effectively.

We have a permanent vacancy for a Procurement Specialist on our Strategic Sourcing team.  This exciting role offers the opportunity to use your commercial expertise improve value for money as you lead the development and implementation of key category strategies and the management of high value supplier relationships.
This role offers the opportunity to join a great team who work together to play a crucial role in DFID’s delivery of aid and international development assistance.  The role may require occasional travel within the UK and overseas, mainly to DFID Country Offices in Africa and Asia.
The procurement team is based at the DFID office in East Kilbride.  Hairmyres train station is 2 minutes walk away, providing a regular service to Glasgow Central (a journey of around 20 minutes), and there is plenty of free parking on-site.  Facilities on-site include a staff restaurant and a gym and there are also shops and restaurants nearby.
