BBC Cymru Wales is a drama production centre for excellence and is well known for series such as Doctor Who, Casualty and Wizards Vs Aliens plus independent comissions for BBC One such as Sherlock and Merlin. You will be joining the Drama Department at an exciting time in BBC Wales' new purpose-built drama production centre at Roath Lock, Cardiff Bay.

Role

We are looking for an experienced Producer to work on a new BBC One drama series. 
You will launch the new series and be accountable for the delivery of production on time and within the agreed editorial brief and budget.  You will contribute to the development and implementation of the editorial vision for the show; encourage, foster and develop creative talent and ability on behalf of Wales Drama Department and ensure that the production values are competitive with standards globally.

Requirements

Drama production experience on large scale dramas is essential and knowledge of period drama is desirable.  Ideally you will have a wide-ranging knowledge of television production processes, preferably gained within drama, and an understanding of the jobs of programme and resource personnel engaged to complete the production.  You will have experience of reconciling artistic aspiration with financial constraint, of planning and revising production budgets and schedules and to deliver programmes on time and within budget.  You will also have knowledge of the skills/abilities of professionals within the industry; knowledge of, and ability to generate creative ideas, for drama productions; knowledge of the internal and external resources/facilities market, and the PACT/ EQUITY agreement sufficient to enable informed and cost-effective contractual decisions to be made; knowledge of corporate conditions of service, equal opportunities and health & safety policies, Editorial Guidelines, contracts, and relevant trade union agreements.
