UN Representative in New York for our Liaison & Advocacy Department


This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and dynamic individual to join our team as the representative in New York. With staff in Vienna, Brussels and Geneva, the Liaison & Advocacy Department represents SOS Children’s Villages internationally, develops international advocacy initiatives and steers the strategic development of advocacy for the organization.
Your responsibilities
  • Represent SOS Children’s Villages at the United Nations in New York
  • Represent SOS Children’s Villages in NGO working groups and contribute to their advocacy activities (e.g. NGO Committee on UNICEF and its working group on children without parental care)
  • Monitor and analyze international trends in the field of child rights and child care
  • Participate in the global advocacy work of SOS Children’s Villages (e.g. Contribute to the development of tools, resources, newsletters…and support some of the capacity-building activities)
 Your profile
  • Master degree or equivalent professional qualification in human rights, political sciences, development, social sciences or social work
  • Minimum of 5 years working experience
  • Very good knowledge of UN systems and procedures
  • Excellent advocacy, networking and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with a virtual team
  • Fluency in English; working knowledge of another UN language is an asset
  • Commitment to children’s rights and the values of SOS Children’s Villages
  • Authorization to work in the United States is required
You will be reporting to the Head of the Liaison & Advocacy Department who is based in Vienna.
