Chief of Party, USAID Jamaica Caribbean Basin Security Initiative

Project/Proposal Summary:
The purpose of the USAID Jamaica Caribbean Basin Security Initiative (CBSI) is to build on previous initiatives in Jamaica to strengthen community and civil society organizations, increase citizen cooperation and accountability, improve community policing practices, strengthen juvenile justice and at-risk youth programs. The program will also aim to improve the ability of communities to better respond to climate change and extreme weather events.
Responsibilities:
  • Overall technical and management oversight of the project and personnel. Serve as MSI’s representative to USAID and all other partners and stakeholders
  • Ensure smooth integration of all components of the project
  • Address and manage all contract related issues for the smooth implementation of the project.
Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree in social sciences, international development, economics or a related field and at least 15 years of experience (or a relevant Bachelor’s degree with at least 20 years of experience) as a senior project management specialist in the implementation and management of international development projects.
  • Experience in two or more areas such as community policing projects, rule of law, civil society strengthening and working with youth at risk.
  • Demonstrated capacity to build productive working relationships with a wide network of partners and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of USAID regulations and procedures pertaining to activity design and implementation.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in English.
  • Prior experience in Jamaica or in other Caribbean countries.
