We are looking for an investigator scientist with excellent educational record and a strong interest in metabolomics and/or lipidomics to pursue a research programme aimed at developing assays for the use in lipidomics. In particular the candidate should have experience of developing quantitative methods by HPLC, LC-MS or LC-M/MS. These assays will in turn be applied to a range of investigations into aspects of the metabolic syndrome such as insulin resistance, type II diabetes, obesity and fatty liver disease. The successful candidate will ideally have a good statistical background, with the use of both univariate and multivariate statistics for omic data processing being an important component of this post. Expertise in liquid chromatography is essential, preferentially with mass spectrometry as the candidate will be required to develop novel assays for quantifying and identifying metabolites of interest.
