Sales and Marketing Manager Consultancy

PSI South Sudan seeks talented, qualified and experienced candidates for a 12 month consultancy position of Sales and Marketing Manager based at the HQ office Juba. The role of the Sales & Marketing Manager is to strengthen all aspects of the sales and marketing system including oversight of all sales and promotional activities to grow the market and share for PSI products, developing wholesaler and vendor relationships through commercial trade marketing techniques, improving cost-effectiveness of distribution and ensuring consistent supply of all PSI commodities and promotional at outlets. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 1. Oversee all aspects related to Sales Team activities and reporting, ensuring reports are submitted to the HIV & WASH Technical Advisor on or before the set deadlines. 2. Assist in development and oversee implementation of product marketing plans with tailored profiles and segmented strategies for distribution and promotions to consumers and trade 3. Providing technical support and supervision to a team of Sales Promoters and Sales Agents in all PSI/South Sudan offices, ensuring PSI policies and procedures and donor rules and regulations are followed. 4. Ensure consistent availability of all materials and products for Sales and Marketing, including development and reporting on pipeline analyses for products and promotional materials, oversight of procurement processes, management of stock levels and coordination with Operations to ensure timely packaging and distribution
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES • Represent PSI and PSI’s products and services to private, public and non-profit organizations and individuals. • Manage the entire sales department, develop sales department work plans, travel schedules, sales targets, determine incentive compensation and then ensure sales team achieves targets. • Build relationships with wholesalers, retailers and institutions in order to increase product sales and identify new opportunities and innovative strategies for growth and improvements in cost effectiveness through innovate distribution strategies. • With the HIV & WASH Technical Advisor and Program Managers set sales targets for institutional sales and identify strategic opportunities to achieve and grow these sales • Work with the M&E department to accurately capture sales trend data and utilize this for improved targeting and vendor relations and for reporting • Identify innovative approaches to collecting sales and market data and assist in design of relevant market and marketing research as needed • With support from Technical Advisor and Program Managers, design and implement promotional events and strategies for end-user and trade marketing to maintain high customer satisfaction among consumers and key clients (particularly wholesalers and distributors) • Ensure that all sales activities and targeted promotions are closely linked to health area activities and objectives. • Oversee the development of all POS material, in conjunction with the Communications Technical Advisor and actively participate in brand promotion strategies and activities. • Work with the Government of South Sudan in registering and approving products, brand names, product imports, product instructions of use and handling. • Prepare and maintain documentation for the registration of PSI products as required. • Oversee the merchandising and placement of PSI products for maximum availability in vendor outlets. • Expand PSI brand penetration to high risk areas and FMCG outlets. • Oversee the recruitment and training of new vendors and wholesalers. • Oversee the development of product specific educational material for vendors. • Develop good working relationships with the State MOH and their respective Governors to ensure smooth operations for PSI within the states. • Maintain an up to date vendor and wholesaler database. • Assist with other duties as required.
DELIVERABLES • Oversee production of monthly sales department reports which will meet the requirements as established by donors and PSI internal Management. • Quarterly presentations providing sales trend analyses and pipeline analyses for all products and promotional materials. • Lead revision of sales commission and incentive structure in collaboration with DCR and TAs • Updated Sales and Marketing Plans for each product on a yearly basis. • Update the Operational Manual for Sales & marketing Department. • Clear product and brand registration procedures and documentation, including pharmaceuticals. • With the HIV & WASH Technical Advisors and Program Managers set sales targets and manage sales staff to meet those targets yearly. • Set Institutional Sales targets and ensure these targets are met, revising targets as needed and as agreed with the HIV & WASH Technical Advisors • Expand geographical coverage of PSI South Sudan’s products to areas not previously reached, which are in line with donor guidance and policies. • Manage relationships with vendors and wholesalers to increase coverage throughout the marketplace. • Manage the placement of POS, branded advertising and Promotional Events, in conjunction with appropriate PSI Departments • Capacity building plan for PSI Sales Department
QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or business administration preferred; • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in sales and marketing environment, preferably in FMCG trade • At least three (3) years management experience, with a focus on sales and product development; • Practical experience of working with various donors is highly desired, but not required. Donors include USAID, DFID, World Bank, UNICEF, CIDA, etc.; • Demonstrated experience building capacity of sales representatives and mid-level managers, through formal training as well as on-the job coaching through supervision and the development and use of effective job aides • Requires extensive experience in working with a computerized sales system, standard spreadsheet and database programs; • Strong supervision skills, including demonstrated ability to manage and monitor performance of staff working in other locations and conduct field visits • Demonstrated experience with standard procurement procedures and policies; • Must be able to give and/or receive instructions from remote locations by telephone and/or email. Therefore must have a good ability to articulate issues and give solutions in remote sites; • Ability to travel on a quarterly basis to field offices to provide technical support and oversight to sales teams and activities in other states around South Sudan; • Demonstrated experience with managing stock commodities in a standalone warehouse; • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively; • Flexibility to work on nights/weekends as required. • Experience working with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook); • English fluency required.
