SPARK is a growing, young, dynamic development NGO with 100 staff members in offices in Amsterdam, Belgrade, Bujumbura, Juba, Gaziantep, Kigali, Monrovia, Mitrovica, Pristina, Sana, Segou, Benghazi and Ramallah. SPARK develops higher education and entrepreneurship, so that young ambitious people are empowered to lead their post-conflict society into prosperity. SPARK is achieving its mission by organizing business plan competitions, business skills training, SME coaching & mentoring, business incubation, SME financing, intensive higher vocational summer courses, curriculum development and quality assurance at universities and higher vocational education institutions.
For a new three year programme promoting Dutch (circular) enterprising migrants from Somalia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Ghana, Morocco and Surinam, SPARK is looking for candidates for the position of:
B2B Field Manager
Under the new programme SPARK works in post-conflict countries, together with local partners (primarily business associations, government, chambers of commerce etc), supporting migrant entrepreneurs to start or expand their businesses. In our position you will be able to support migrant entrepreneurs with Business Development Services, a loan guarantee fund and networking with the relevant local stakeholders in making their investment work.
We are looking for candidates who are well aware of the local (business) environment in the one or more of the countries mentioned above and are determined to achieve the targets as formulated and get this done. You live and work as a one-person office from the mentioned locations (1 person per location) and assist SME investments and migrant entrepreneurs from the Netherlands and wider EU in doing business locally.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
Supporting Dutch and EU migrant entrepreneurs in investing and starting or up scaling their SME in the target countries; Networking and liaising with all local and national actors of relevance to Dutch/EU migrant entrepreneurs, i.e. business alliances, chambers of commerce, local/national government units dealing with foreign investment and SME support etc; Focal point for Dutch/EU migrant entrepreneurs interesting to start or grow their SME in above mentioned locations; Programme planning, monitoring, evaluation & reporting; Financial program management; Identification of local partners, i.e. BDS and access to finance (loan) providers. Requirements and Skills:
Competencies: problem solving, result oriented, flexibility and entrepreneurial. Experience working in the relevant countries is essential; Experienced in working with organizations and institutions in the public and private sector; Experience working on private sector development projects or in the private sector is a distinct advantage; Training experience in the private sector is a distinct advantage; Political and cultural sensitivity; Good communication and social skill, diplomatic skills and the ability to (net)work in multicultural settings; Good verbal and written language skills of the local language and English. Knowledge of Dutch language is an advantage; Flexibility to travel frequently; Proven programme development and acquisition track record a distinct advantage;
