Sandvik, a Swedish based international high technology engineering group with world leading positions in cemented carbide and high speed steel tools for metal cutting; equipment and tools for mining and construction; and advanced stainless steel, specialty alloy and ceramic resistance products and process systems, has an openingfor aHuman Resources Specialist (Employee Relations & Recruitment) supporting the Southeastern Part of the USA (South Carolina, Georgia, Florida).
The Role
In this key role, the Human Resources Specialist will be responsible for providing advice, guidance and coaching to managers regarding complex employee relations and people management issues. This individual will support management in providing full cycle recruitment for our business locations in the US, and will be based in a Sandvik site within the Southeastern USA. Flexibility and mobility is required to visit various US locations as needed.
Key Performance Areas
  • Addressing complex queries raised by line managers in relation to HR policies and procedure
  • Coaching managers to develop capability and confidence in people management and leadership
  • Applying knowledge and experience in interpreting HR policies and procedures and how they apply to individual employee circumstances; also providing competent advice on application of company policies according to local employment legislation
  • Guiding managers through the management of employee relations issues including performance management and development, potential disciplinary actions, handling grievances
  • Communication with union representatives in relation to specific employee issues
  • Understanding and managing potential risk in relation to employee actions and issues with ability to escalate as appropriate.
  • Partnering with managers to advise on the most appropriate methods and approaches for their required recruitment
  • Providing coaching and advice to recruiting managers to increase their recruiting capability and enhance their understanding of the recruitment process, as may be required.
  • Sourcing a candidate pool and performing initial screening in order to identify a candidate short list that meets the needs of the position and the recruiting manager
  • Guiding candidates through the recruitment process, keeping them informed, coordinating interview and assessment arrangements, and delivering decisions and feedback as required
  • Supporting interviews and assessments as required and provide a professional and impartial input to selection decisions where required
  • Participating in employer branding activities including recruitment events in schools and colleges where required.
  • Coordinating day to day interactions with recruiting agencies and suppliers
Your Profile
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • At least 5 years in a Human Resources generalist role with a focus on employee relations and development
  • PHR certification preferred
  • Full cycle recruitment including support of managers in determining organizational needs and selecting talent
  • Providing performance management support and recommending employee training and development
  • Supporting a diverse group of business areas including a unionized environment
  • Ability to plan for and manage various stakeholders through organizational changes
  • Effective strategic communication ability
  • Proven ability to prioritize and to handle multiple priorities at once
  • Understanding and respect for confidential documents and circumstances
  • Dealing with compliance issues such as EEO/AAP and FLSA
