The Company:

Justerini & Brooks is a London, Edinburgh and Hong Kong based Wine Merchant, founded in 1749 and one of the world’s most recognised names in fine wine with a Royal Warrant and a high reputation for quality and service.

We have years of combined experience in buying and selling of fine and rare wines and its wine portfolio provides access to a full range of exceptional value wines, fine and rare wines and access to En Primeur.

We also have a dedicated on trade division which supplies wines, Champagnes and spirits to restaurants, bars, hotels, catering companies and independent retailers throughout the UK. We manage an unrivalled portfolio of fine wines, including being the largest UK importer of Domaine-bottled Burgundy, Barolo and German Riesling.
Market Complexity:

A key focus for Justerini & Brooks is to grow the value of broking through a focus on trade sales domestically and overseas, as well as developing further a workable broking platform to manage wine funds and wholesale broking sales. This needs to be developed in tandem and add incremental benefit rather than supersede other key focuses within the J&B business.

There can be a high level of volatility in the fine wine markets and the role requires a proven ability to track and monitor price movements and demand trends, as well as having a high level of product knowledge and a track record of succeeding in operating within a demanding and competitive fine wine environment.
The Purpose of the Role:

This is to develop BTB sales, both domestically and overseas. To assist in the valuation of cellars. Buying secondary stocks from Europe and the UK. This is about developing relationships with key suppliers, spotting and responding to offers before the competition and engaging the sales team in the offers you obtain.
Top Accountabilities:
  • Responsible for building a profitable broking client
  • Manage and be held accountable for cash management of own client base
  • Buying secondary market stock and presenting this to the sales teams, therefore enhancing our offering without impacting our inventory numbers.
  • Ownership of the P&L relating to definable client base – measured on volume sold, net sales value, and derived sales contribution. Key contributor in delivering the company’s AOP.

Qualifications:
  • You will be of graduate calibre and ideally hold WSET certificates (Diploma level). It would also be desirable if the individual has an additional language. I.e. French.
  • Ability to use PC applications including Advanced Excel skills.
  • A minimum of two years successful experience in broking fine wine to the international fine wine trade. Should have an established set of contacts across the UK/European trade. Demonstrable experience in administration and the application of efficient processes.
  • This role would also suit someone who has spent a number of years in Private Client, Fine Wine sales and are looking for the opportunity to make that move into Broking.
