Field Project Manager- Ghana (pending CIDA funding)

As leader of the project team, the Field Project Manager (FPM) will be responsible for the overall success of MEDA’s Improved Food Security in Northern Ghana project. The Field Project Manager coordinates and provides in-country management for all of the project’s activities including (but not limited to) project set-up and implementation, logistics coordination, financial planning and monitoring; staff recruitment, training and monitoring, and liaison with partners and other stakeholders (including technology suppliers and retailers) in the project. The Field Project Manager will be based in Tamale, Ghana and will report directly to the Project Manager/Senior Consultant in North America. Ideal start date is November 2011.

Qualifications:

· Minimum of ten years demonstrated experience in project management: staff management, budgeting, report-writing, monitoring and evaluation and capacity development.

· Post-graduate education in a related discipline: business, marketing, economic development, etc.

· Demonstrated experience in enterprise development and marketing of small businesses with an understanding of sustainable private sector and value chain development methodologies. Specific experience in agri-business is a plus.

· Knowledge and experience in addressing food security issues is highly preferred. Experience in Women’s Economic Development also highly preferred.

· Experience working with large international donors

· Creative, entrepreneurial and resourceful approach to developing and implementing innovative solutions.

· Ability to mobilize partners and facilitate alliances and collaboration.

· Proven and adaptable interpersonal and cross cultural communication skills. Ability to professionally and effectively communicate with individuals at various levels.

· Excellent leadership skills with particular skills to work as a catalyst and facilitator.

· Previous work experience in Ghana is preferred.

· Appreciation and support of MEDA’s faith, values, mission and purpose.
