To join our STOP AIDS NOW! programme we are looking for a

Policy officer/Senior advisor Social Protection With a focus on HIV and livelihoods

(32 hours per week)

Background

Working at the crossroads of HIV and development cooperation, STOP AIDS NOW! and its partners have worked on issues around HIV sensitive social protection for years. UNAIDS has adopted HIV sensitive protection in their strategy for 2011-2015. Together with our policy officer/senior advisor for children affected by HIV and AIDS you work to foster HIV sensitive social protection for people affected by HIV and AIDS in developing countries. Your specific focus will be on HIV and livelihoods, embedded within a wider Social Protection context.

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Together with our partners identify gaps, needs and opportunities
  • Develop new ideas and link these to relevant partners and donors
  • Manage externally financed projects
  • Generate and share knowledge with relevant stakeholders
  • Participate in relevant (international) networks and working groups, influence policy makers

Your salary will be between € 2.811 and € 4.341 gross per month (for 36 hours). You will be offered a fixed term contract of 1 year, after which the contract can be extended in case of good performance and provided sufficient financial means.

Requirements and competencies

  • State of the art knowledge on social protection and/or livelihoods in developing countries
  • Experience and/or affinity with the AIDS response
  • Open, transparent and entrepreneurial attitude
  • Experience in leading and facilitating multi-stakeholder and multi-country projects
  • Good English communication skills, able to read and understand Dutch
  • The vacant position requires the person to already have an EU work permit
  • Masters degree in relevant field and experience in developing countries
