A public affairs executive is required to join the Communications and Research team of the leading private equity and venture capital trade association.

The BVCA represents 500 member firms from the private equity and venture capital community. The way we communicate with our stakeholders in government and the media has never been more important, whether through our research output or our direct engagement with politicians and civil servants. This would be an ideal role for someone with relevant experience interested in pursuing a career in public affairs and research.

This is a multi-faceted position and we are looking for candidates with an understanding of politics and public policy, research experience, an interest in financial PR, as well as excellent organisational and project management skills. The successful candidates will need to communicate effectively in both written form and in face to face meetings, as well as be literate in data handling.

The role

  • Proactively source opportunities for industry communication and engagement
  • Conduct research for a variety of stakeholders
  • Management and ownership of key public affairs work streams
  • Designing and organising briefings/roundtables/special events
  • Handling media requests/enquiries
  • Drafting of speeches, placed articles
  • Monitoring of press and press cuttings
  • Parliamentary monitoring
  • Drafting news releases, consultation responses, briefing notes
  • Administrative support
  • Develop relationships with members
  • Management of communications intern

Person specifications

  • University graduate
  • To think creatively in contributing to our strategic communications platform
  • To be able to work accurately and reliably under pressure to tight deadlines
  • Excellent and proven written communication skills
  • Demonstrable experience producing high quality research output
  • High self-motivation
  • Awareness about media and political issues
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and experience of working in a team
  • Knowledge or exposure to financial markets an advantage
