Job mission

Manage the sales of MTN Group Global Carrier Services range of products and services, including cable capacity to internal and external customers by conducting such activities as will lead to targeted acquisition, care, retention and growth of individual customer accounts and attainment of set sales and other business objectives. ) Marketing, promoting and selling the MTN Group as major provider of international capacity. Manage the commercial relationships required to optimise the business opportunities in the international voice traffic area and mobile data, facilitate the interface between MTN OPCOs and international operators and other providers to ensure traffic growth and eliminate fraud.

KPA duties

Capacity Sales
•Optimise the returns from submarine cable investments through development and application of capacity sale and lease strategies and plans
•Ensure on time implementation and delivery of sold services; follow up with implementation and support team/s
•Ensure full customer satisfaction over the wholesales/ delivery process
•Provide input to monitoring capacity pricing changes in the markets, market price trends analysis based on customer feedback, and market dynamics, so as to improve internal practices as well as request pricing update from the pricing team/s
•Tailor and customise commercial solutions dependent on regulatory approval across multiple jurisdictions
•Adept and customise commercial solutions to be most appropriate to market conditions across multiple jurisdictions
•Source and consolidate Opcos commercial requirements for input into business case
•Ensure that all transactions with customers are duly documented

International traffic management
•Facilitate and manage the relationship between supported OPCOs and Group suppliers of international voice and mobile data services
•Provide input to monitoring and reporting on volumes, trends, market dynamics and quality of service delivery in OPCO’s international carrier routes, to Senior Manager, GM, OPCO CTIO, and/ or Regional VP/s or any other stakeholder as could be requested.
•Provide input to analysis of traffic patterns and trends and advise OPCOs on risks and possible fraudulent traffic patterns
•Represent OPCO interests in Operational meetings with preferred voice service provider in line with Commercial agreement
•Monitor and ensure adherence to operational and quality KPIs defined with preferred service provider
•Support broader initiatives as driven by Global Carrier Services as it relates to international traffic infrastructure
•Advice on selection of commercial partners and platform providers to support Group initiatives

Educational requirements

•Commercial/Financial and/or Technical/ Engineering Degree or similar qualification with working experience equivalent in telecommunications related areas mandatory
•Business Development or Project Management experience or additional related diploma or degree an advantage
•Sales, marketing and product and services promotional experience with related certification, diploma or degree an advantage

Experience required

•3 -5 years commercial management experience in Carrier Relations/ international capacity function
•Experience in International Carrier Business and sales
•Strong selling management background
•Strong negotiating and lobbying experience
•Submarine cable and satellite capacity sales/ management experience
•3 – 5 years mobile telecommunications product and services managerial and/ or supervisory experience

Skills required

Knowledge:
•Computer literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint, Visio, Project)
•Broad telecommunications industry understanding
•Specific knowledge of international connectivity systems
•Knowledge of vendors and suppliers capacity and trends
•Operational knowledge of submarine cable systems and capacity
•Basic GSM/GPRS network elements
•Understanding of the African and Middle Eastern international broadband market development
