PATH is a US-based international nonprofit organization with the mission to improve the health of people around the world by advancing technologies, strengthening systems, and encouraging healthy behaviors. PATH’s India program is based in New Delhi with sub-offices in Bhopal, Hyderabad, Lucknow, and Mumbai. PATH in India has developed a diverse portfolio of public health programming in the fields of immunization, infectious and vector-borne diseases, health technology commercialization, vaccine development and introduction, HIV and sexual and reproductive health, and maternal and newborn health. PATH maintains a diverse base of funding in support of its work in India that includes bilateral and multilateral donors as well as several private foundations.

PATH in partnership with PCI and local NGOs working with communities to find lasting solutions at the grassroots will be implementing the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Project Parivartan for “Empowering and Mobilizing Communities for Sustainable Improvements in Health Outcomes in Bihar”. Parivartan is designed to improve key family health and sanitation behaviours, increase equity and accountability of health services, and sustain critical family health and sanitation outcomes of women and children initially in 8 innovation districts and ultimately across the state of Bihar, India. The project goal is to catalyze collective community action to promote shifts in social norms and behaviour change to improve family health and sanitation and enhance accountability and equity of health and sanitation services across Bihar by 2016.

PATH seeks applications to recruit an Administrative Assistant for the Parivartan Project team based in Patna. The Administrative Assistant will provide administrative and secretarial support to the Parivartan Patna team and will have a direct reporting to Deputy Chief of Party on day to day activities and a dotted line reporting to Sr. Project Administrator for overall support.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Providing administrative support to the Parivartan Patna team including
    • Routine office management and housekeeping
    • Petty cash management and reporting
    • Tracking and managing office supplies
    • Documentation / filing
    • Coordination of domestic and international travel
    • Coordination of appointments and incoming calls
  • Assisting with scheduling and planning meetings, workshops, conferences, travel coordination, compiling and organizing relevant background materials for meetings.
  • Secretarial support to Parivartan team management as required with word processing, presentations, emails and other correspondence.
  • Coordinating with vendors and consultants.
  • Providing assistance in developing and maintaining systems within the department, such as filing systems.
Required Skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including report writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage data.
  • Flexible, detail oriented, organized, adaptable to changing priorities, and able to take the initiative and to meet strict deadlines.
  • Excellent computer skills using Microsoft Office (particularly Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) and familiarity with the Internet.
  • Experience in organizing meetings and/or workshops.
  • Ability to work within a team situation and with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural work environment.
Required Experience

Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of experience working for a national or international not-for-profit organization in an administrative role or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
