Program Manager West Africa

In anticipation of new funding, the American Bar Association Rule of Law Initiative (ABA ROLI) seeks a short term Program Manager with specific experience implementing governance, rule of law or human rights programs, preferably in Africa. The individual should have concrete experience developing work plans, managing funds, and planning activities. S/he should also have previous experience working alongside civil society organizations and government agencies. Desired candidates would have a strong understanding of international human rights, with specific knowledge of economic and social rights standards. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the social and environmental impacts of mining on local communities.

This would be a short-term consultancy. If funding is secured for this position, the ideal candidate must be available to deploy to Africa on short notice for two months, possibly by February 24.

Qualifications

Education: JD or equivalent required

Work Experience: Four to five years of previous program management experience, preferably in Africa.

Language Skills: Fluency in French and English is required. Candidates who do not meet this requirement will not be considered.
