Senior Director of Organisation Development and HR Amnesty

At Amnesty International (AI) we fight injustice on a global scale – reshaping policies, challenging governments and taking corporations to task. In this key role, you’ll lead our international people agenda at a unique time – driving a strategic organisational development approach in an evolving organisation and ensuring we best deploy and support our human resources to succeed in our critical work.

About the role
As a member of the Senior Leadership team, not only will you be at the forefront of our global people policy, you’ll have an integral role to play in shaping the wider organisational strategy and driving the communication on this back into the organisation – influencing change and development plans on a worldwide scale. We’ll look to you to deliver an internationally focused, legally compliant and entirely responsive HR service which is strategically value-adding - taking into account the variations to the employment landscape from country to country when developing best practice people policies and solutions, as well as the internal culture of the organisation. The directorate certainly has an exciting and challenging agenda ahead of it while embedding our organisational changes into all aspects of HR; with specialist teams reporting to you, you will oversee everything from the development of the HR Business Partnering Service to the resourcing of talent across the globe, the management of effective employee communication, to the integration of Learning & Development into the directorate.

About you
This role requires a highly skilled senior human resources Director with UK legislative and best practice experience; ideally with a background in international HR. You will be resilient, diplomatic and confident working with executive priorities in a complex global organisation while in possession of the ability to challenge and confront conflict with a determined approach. You’ll have the credibility to lead organisational restructures and change management initiatives – influencing key decisions, driving multifaceted transformation projects, developing effective people management policies and taking an innovative approach to delivering solutions. And as an inspirational leader, you’ll have no problem motivating and guiding your teams, generating the trust and confidence of managers and staff, and representing the organisation on a global scale. Of course, just as importantly, you’ll be genuinely passionate about making a difference.

About us
Our aim is simple: an end to human rights abuses. Independent, international and influential, we campaign for justice, freedom and truth wherever they’re denied. Already our network of over three million members and supporters is making a difference in 150 countries. And whether we’re applying pressure through powerful research or direct lobbying, mass demonstrations, human rights education, or online campaigning, we’re all inspired by hope for a better world. One where human rights are respected and protected by everyone, everywhere.
