Senior Manager – Town/Rural Development

JOB SUMMARY
Current Town/Village market in China accounts for 69% of China’s population and around 50% of total NARTD volume, and is growing twice as much as urban China. To lead this growth and maximize KO Share, this position will be responsible to develop and execute an integrated China’s Rural strategy for our total portfolio, based on the best understanding of Rural China across FMCGs.

It will be done by identifying strategic priorities and opportunities based on consumer, shopper & customer insights, competitive landscape, trends, and working closely with Division Marketing, Franchise Leadership, Commercial Leadership team and Bottling partners


KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develop deep rural Knowledge and align definitions and execution Targets/KPIs across bottlers 15%
2. Secure a rural focused communication plan for KO Portfolio 10%
3. Develop and execute an availability driven calendar for Customers and partners 15%
4. Evolve current OBPPC to maximize portfolio availability and affordability for shoppers 25%
5. Develop a clear activation and CDE In-Store activation policy, including merchandising and portfolio communication priorities and materials 20%
6. Secure RTM Semi-Controlled model expansion and evolution 15%

COMMUNICATION COMPLEXITIES:
Internal: Division Marketing, Franchise Leadership, Commercial Leadership, Technical, and R&D.
External: Bottling Group Head Office, Bottlers Plant SMD, Supply Chain Manufacturer (SCMC),Research Agencies, Government institutions, Other FMCG rural players


ANALYSIS:
The candidate must be able to lead/develop new approaches & thinking for Rural China needs. It involves a new selling, distribution, and service model in order to meet customer and consumer needs. Forward positive thinking, good analytical skills and clear channel understandings are critical. Project management skills with cross functional teams is important.

Also will need to develop a deep understanding of rural China from multiples sources of information (market visits, KO system, government sources, other).


JUDGMENT AND DECISION MAKING:
Needs to develop a national game plan to determine WHERE KO China will play and HOW the KO system infrastructure needs to evolve in order to achieve higher penetration & profitability.

Integrate a full plan with key stakeholders (KO + bottlers) and secure execution selecting the right short and long term priorities.


INNOVATION:
The job involves leading / developing with Commercial and Marketing teams the strategic planning for Rural , including 1) RTM, 2) OBPPC , 3) Communication, 4) In store activation. Ability to innovate and consolidate ideas to drive system execution is critical.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Full time, currently with no direct report. Need to supervise third party agency people and summer interns.

RELATED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS/ QUALIFICATIONS:
10 years+ FMCG industry knowledge with solid KA/channel management experience. Bottler operation understanding is a plus. Highly excel in analytical skills, communication & negotiation, and ability to make difficult tasks simple.


EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
University/Bachelors degree


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
MBA preferred


CULTURAL DIVERSITY:
Mandarin & English proficiency are required


TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
40-50% + travelling required
