Responsibilities:
Supply/Distribution (SD) business manages and optimizes value delivery from the Downstream main fuels hydrocarbon supply chain. It balances the supply provided by Manufacturing and third parties with the hydrocarbons needed to meet the demand of Shell Businesses while considering the affect to Shell from an Enterprise perspective.

The SD business organization achieves this by the direct sale and purchase of products with third parties and Shell entities and the optimization of the supply chain logistics. Understanding the commercial impact of purchase / sales with third parties, intercompany activity and the optimization of the logistics is critical to the success of the business.

The Senior Finance Advisor is a part of the Houston based US Supply and Distribution Finance team. The main deliverables of the Finance Team are:
• Transparent,timely and quality metrics for understanding and benchmarking road, rail, pipeline and shipping transport costs
• Transparent,timely and quality analysis of the commercial impact of purchases and sales
• Excellent decision support,challenge,appraisal and forward-looking analysis
• Working closely with the business to help understand and guide the business path forward
• Ensure adherence to governance and control framework to include both internal and external compliance
• High quality all round finance support
KEY ACTIVITIES OF THE SENIOR FINANCE ADVISOR INCLUDE:
Business Decision Support:
Develop and deliver high quality Finance functional and commercial support and challenge to business decision making and new business development (including first line support on price and exchange risks, transport contracts, deal economics, Tax, Treasury and finance-process matters). This includes quantifying the transport costs,margin analysis, and working capital to ensure decisions are based upon sound financial support. Additionally, this includes allocation of risk in contracts.

Appraisal:
Develop and deliver commercially insightful analysis and appraisal of the supply costs and supply margin inclusive of purchase, sales and exchange activity using a combination of internal and external sources. The Senior Finance Advisor is responsible for coordinating the business plan with respect to supply cost and margin.

Financial Reporting and Operational Excellence:
The Senior Finance Advisor is accountable for understanding financial performance and ensuring reporting is fairly stated. Drives operational excellence by designing,tracking and reporting meaningful targets and performance indicators on a local and regional level.

Interface Management:
Ensure the Finance support provided through multiple interfaces meets the business need. Will be the finance representative in cross business value delivery teams.

Portfolio & Strategy:
Provides Finance support to strategy & portfolio activities.

Governance & Control:
Ensures the business has a fit for purpose, risk based governance an

Requirements:
The successful candidate should be a self-starter who can work independently and as a team member. Candidate must have demonstrated taking the initiative in prior assignments. Other key attributes include having high ownership and achievement orientation, customer focus, accountability and dedication to deliver.
• Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years experience in Business Analysis, Finance, Commercial and/or Economics.
• Experience in Oil and Gas industry with emphasis on Downstream, Trading and Manufacturing
• Ability to provide finance support in a large, complex business environment with multiple interfaces
• Ability to bring challenge and support, utilizing commercial acumen, to contract negotiations.
• Ability to extract data from the system, analyze the information and present solutions.
• Proven analytical, system/process, finance and accounting skills, with the ability to determine the underlying issues and relate them to ensure appropriate business controls are in place and functioning.
• Ability to apply accounting policy to business situations.
• Proficiency with SAP and Microsoft Excel
