Advisor - SADC Water Infrastructure
Area of activity
The Southern African Development Community (SADC) has produced many successful examples of Transboundary Water Management in the last few years. All 15 cross national borders along the larger river basins make further improvements in the transboundary cooperation necessary. The central approach of the Transboundary Water Management in the SADC programme comprises capacity development for the management of shared river basins. In so doing, the programme acts at the regional level (SADC), at the level of river basin organisations (RBO) as well as at the local level (municipalities, utilities).
Your tasks
As Advisor you will be responsible for giving professional, subject-specific advice on all topics relating to water-infrastructure measures. You support the range of partner experts at all levels of intervention (macro, meso, micro). You provide support for the identification, preparation and execution of all water-infrastructure measures. In addition you manage the implementation of pre-feasibility and feasibility studies for water infrastructure measures. You are as well in charge of arranging bankable investment measures. The compilation and publication of industry-related studies is also part of your responsibilities.
Your qualification
You have a top-notch degree from a renowned University in water engineering, hydrology or equivalent and several years of professional experience in the water-infrastructure sector. You have in-depth knowledge of water supply, hydropower and adaptation to climate change. You have successfully cooperated with partners at local, national and international level. Your ability of establishing and developing networks is outstanding. You are an active team player who is flexible with an ability to adapt to a complex and ever changing environment. Similar experience and enthusiasm for the participatory development cooperation is also essential. You are proficient in English - orally and in writing, and you have a good command of the German or Portuguese language.
