IT ASSISTANT - International Organization for Migration
Worldwide the International Organization for Migration helps to ensure the orderly and humane management of migration, to promote international cooperation on migration issues, to assist in the search for practical solutions to migration problems and to provide humanitarian assistance to migrants in need, including refugees and internally displaced people. The headoffice for IOM in the Netherlands is at The Hague and there are several district offices throughout the country. The Dutch team consists of approximately 70 employees.
General Functions:
Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Quality Control and Procurement and the overall supervision of the Clustermanager Resources the incumbent will be responsible for the administration, configuration, functionality and evolution of the ITC infrastructure and systems in IOM The Hague, in close coordination with the IT Infrastructure and Mission Support Unit (ITU) at the ITC Service Center in Manila. The Hague’s mission is also responsible for sub offices in The Netherlands such as Schiphol, Zwolle and Utrecht. In particular, he/she will:
- Provide onsite end-user support to IOM staff.
- Ensure the implementation of ITC infrastructure compliant to IOM ITC Standards, Policies and Guidelines, in particular with regards to network systems, telecoms and ITC procurement (hardware and software). Suggest best technical solutions in order to achieve required standards.
- Support IOM staff in the utilization of relevant IOM corporate applications and IOM specific applications (MiMOSA, iGator, PRISM, CRS, relation management system etc).
- Provide competent expertise to projects implemented by IOM The Hague and implement projects with IT related component in a timely manner.
- Install, configure and upgrade software required for the operations in the office (Windows, MS Office, Antivirus and others).
- Implement virus detection, removal and prevention for all systems. This will involve assurance of deployment of the latest Anti-Virus signatures for data protection.
- Support in the Management of an overall tracking system for the ITC Equipment Inventory (hardware and software), including regular updates of the technical documentation of the ITC network.
- Implement and manage a centralized regular backup for servers and clients, monitoring backup jobs and management of tape backup sets and rotation.
- Regularly report needs and progress on ITC issues in his/her area of responsibility and assist the management liaising with ITC service providers and vendors for the adequate provision of supplies and services. Assist and provide advises to procurement for IT goods and any IT related contract, in particular with providing specifications for tenders. Monitor accuracy of services performed by suppliers.
- Track IT activity and report to Management on IT activities, needs and progresses.
- Coordinate with ITC Manila and other IOM Missions.
- Maintain telephone and internet infrastructure. Provide IOM office with advises on efficient and reliable telecommunication solutions.
- Provide support to update IOM The Hague website, currently developed and maintained by external agencies.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Desirable qualifications and experience:
- University degree in Computer Science or a combination of relevant education and professional 5 year experience.
- Holder of CCNA, MCP (Windows/Exchange Server) and/or A+ certifications is a distinct advantage.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in networking environment (LAN/WAN) and first level network/desktop support.
- Experience in. Experience with Windows Operating Systems (Windows XP, Windows 7), MS Office (2010), Antivirus Software and IT utilities. Experience in the administration of Windows Servers 2003/2008) and Exchange Servers (2003/2010) in a multi-site environment, TCP/IP, Cisco devices. A23 Citrix XenApp 5 or 259 citrix presentation 4.5 is a distinct advantage.

- Fluency in English.
Salary
Monthly approximate nett salary is €2.735 (tax exempt). Dutch nationals can privately insure for additional local social security.
