Program Coordinator, International Program
The Migration Policy Institute (MPI), a nonpartisan, nonprofit think tank dedicated to the study of national and international migration policies, seeks a highly motivated program coordinator for the Institute’s International Program. Primary tasks include managing the Program’s high-level international meetings from start to finish (dealing with all aspects of migration policy in Europe, North America, and Asia); undertaking substantial policy-relevant editing and writing; and producing high-quality research to assist the program director. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional writing, editing, and analytical skills. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Duties and Responsibilities
Project Coordination
- Primary responsibility for coordinating high-level meetings for MPI’s International Program, including helping to conceptualize projects; developing event agendas; managing correspondence with participants; and coordinating with external contributors and partners
- Support the program director and other MPI staff with project management
- Draft official correspondence and develop project materials as appropriate
- Edit commissioned papers, including background papers, memoranda, reports, articles, etc., with guidance of senior staff
- Propose projects and ideas to senior staff
Research
- Contribute to drafting and editing both explanatory and analytical reports, policy briefs, and other research materials with supervision
- Contribute to and/or co-author MPI articles and publications with appropriate experience and guidance
- Provide in-depth policy analyses with interpretations and recommendations
- Ensure timeliness and accuracy in reporting
Other
- Assist senior staff in fundraising duties, including writing sections of grant proposals and reports; conduct research on prospective funding opportunities
- Represent MPI in interactions with members of the policy community

Qualifications
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree with 2 years relevant experience (or equivalent) required; we may consider candidates with less work experience who can demonstrate exceptional academic achievement
- Prior experience in think tanks or other public policy institutions highly valued
- Proven writing and editing skills (finalists will be asked to complete an in-person writing and/or editing exercise)
- High motivation and initiative; commitment to policy-related work; ability to handle multiple assignments, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment; ability to communicate well and work within a team
- Ability to effectively gather and analyze large volumes of information through both primary and secondary sources, surveys, and/or fieldwork
- Keen interest in policy, legislation, and public administration in North America and Europe
- Foreign language skills a plus
