Programme Officer Aga Khan Foundation

The Aga Khan Foundation (UK) is part of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), a group of ten private, international, non-denominational agencies including two universities founded by His Highness the Aga Khan. The Network’s agencies have individual mandates that range from the fields of health and education to culture; integrated area and rural development; microfinance; and a range of private enterprises. Active in Central and South Asia, and Eastern and Western Africa, AKDN is dedicated to improving living conditions and opportunities for the poor, without regard to faith, origin or gender.

The unit works closely with all agencies of the Network and is responsible for brokering European and multilateral strategic dialogues, partnerships, and financing. A small, dynamic, and fast-paced office with a highly committed and driven core team, it seeks self-starting, results-oriented individuals for two Programme roles based in London.
Senior Programme Officer
Responsible for driving key resource mobilisation and positioning related to major multi-sector projects in Central/South Asia and Eastern/Western Africa. With the CEO and Director of Programmes, builds and maintains effective partnerships with European donors, multilateral development banks, and development financing institutions. Designs effective communications tools to support this work. Works with AKDN agencies and field offices to develop high quality strategy documents and proposals.
Programme Officer
Supports the programme team in the preparation of data-rich communications tools, such as presentations, fact sheets, strategy documents, proposals, reports, and grant applications. Plays an important role in the day-to-day management of relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Contributes to building and maintaining effective partnerships and driving forward high quality proposals adhering to donor procedures and formats.
Requirements:
· Versatile, self-starting, hard-working, and results-focused professionals committed to improving lives in the developing world. Must share a sense of urgency about development and be comfortable working under sustained pressure.
· Experience contributing to all aspects of complex relationship development and maintenance, including direct support to business development activities.
· Significant experience in resource mobilisation and grant management preferred. Direct experience with and knowledge of European donors and multi-lateral development banks is desirable.
· Understanding of contemporary development issues and organisations. Field experience in one or more regions of AKDN presence ideal.
· Exceptional and proven written, analytical, verbal, presentation and IT competencies.
· Fluency in English and an additional European language (ideally French or German).
· A post-graduate degree in a relevant field.
