Position Description:
Duty station:National Office Dar es Salaam
Reporting to:National FSP Coordinator
Scope
Provide management and support to Gender and Development initiatives that contribute to the promotion of justice and human rights among the poor and the marginalized communities of Tanzania by addressing the root causes of poverty through upholding SOS Children's Villages Tanzania mission, vision and human rights standards.
Major Responsibilities:
Implement the Gender and Development Action Plan in order to promote Gender integration at the organizational level
Monitor the implementation of gender related programme interventions in SOS Children's Villages Program Policy model that included the Family Strengthening Program (FSP) as well as the Family Based Care (FBC) model, with a special focus on FSP.
Support training of community-based partners and other service providers to implement gender sensitive initiatives.
Manage and coordinate overall Gender objectives and initiatives such as Child Rights, gender mainstreaming, promotion of girl child education HIV/AIDS and policy influencing at facility and national level.
Develop mechanism for identification, documentation and dissemination of Gender best practices for learning purposes.
Facilitate and coordinate Gender y research, documentation and dissemination to inform and influence policy and decision-makers.
Strengthen and maintain strategic and effective gender policy networks and coalitions with likeminded agencies and organizations i.e. donors, NGOs, government, UN agencies and religious institutions
Facilitate and coordinate gender mainstreaming and gender self-assessment in all stages in the facility/Projects and organization cycles.
Promote and support capacity-building of board members and co-workers on gender, facilitating training and developing training materials as required.
Lead the planning and budgeting of gender initiatives at a national level. Support gender focal points at each location, to enhance gender mainstreaming and accountability
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Bachelor degree in Community Development, Social or Political Science, or any other related field of study. .
Experience in Advocacy and policy analysis an advantage
At least three years working experience preferably in NGO in this field
Facilitation skills for participatory processes and report writing skills
Basic knowledge on project cycle management and Project M& E practices experiences
Ability to work with minimum supervision
