Field Engineer South Sudan

This is a request for CVs/Expression of Interest for the position of Field Engineer for the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in South Sudan in support of Transition and Recovery Programming. IOM transition and recovery programming portfolio is growing in South Sudan and the search for a civil engineer with experience working in environments like South Sudan and a wide range of engineering experience in basic design, contracting and construction of schools, markets, municipal buildings, markets, water supply including the design and implementation of water networks and construction supervision is underway.

Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and direct supervision of the Transition and Recovery Program Manager, the incumbent would be responsible for the complete study, design and tendering process of community based infrastructure improvement projects as well as the ongoing supervision of these works while in progress.

Technical

a) Delivers on set objectives in hardship situations b) Effectively coordinate actions with other implementing partners c) Works effectively with stakeholders, beneficiaries and the broader community to advance country office or regional objectives.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

a) A degree in civil engineering from an accredited university is required b) 5 years minimum experience in infrastructure project implementation in post conflict situations or developing nations. c) Proven capacity in managing sub-contracts, bidding and tendering processes. d) Background in community/participatory approach in project identification and implementation. e) Strong project supervision skills and ability to communicate accordingly with a variety of contractors f) Experience in engaging with communities to realize various infrastructure priorities required.

Languages

Thorough knowledge of English. Knowledge of Arabic an advantage.
