Community Grants Coordinator

The U.S. Consulate General in Johannesburg is seeking an individual for the position of Community Grants Coordinator reporting to the Country Community Grants Officer in the Economic Section (Pretoria).

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications Required:

Items 1- 5 are ALL REQUIRED

1. Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent from an accredited university in social sciences, business administration, public administration, finance, law or related fields is required.
2. Experience: Minimum 3 years experience working in community development, project management and program funding/budget management is required.
3. Language: English level IV in reading, writing and speaking is required. (This will be tested)
4. Knowledge:
- Professional and specialized knowledge of grant writing and/or reviewing, project management (including analysis, assessment, and advice to community organizations), contract drafting and interpretation, basic accounting and business skills, database and file system management and program coordination is required.
5. Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent speaking and writing skills is required.
- Must be a self-starter with excellent organizational, time management, and analytical skills.
- Good investigative instincts and research skills, as well as excellent interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity is required.
- Must be able to compose effective written reports and documents.
- Strong computer skills and the ability to use office software packages, including word processing, email, spreadsheets and database systems is required.(This will be tested)

Job Specification

Basic Function of Position:
The incumbent administers and manages the Johannesburg region Community Grants. Job holder oversees the entire life cycle of the grants, including making recommendations to senior management for the awarding of the grants, monitoring progress and preparing reports on completed projects. The incumbent is directly supervised by the Economic Officer.


Work Hours:
Part-Time; 32 hours/week


Salary:
* Ordinarily Resident: FSN-9
Basic Salary: R189,690 – R265,564 per annum
Cash Benefits: R47,855 – R54,178 per annum
Non-cash benefits include medical, pension and others where applicable

* Not-Ordinarily Resident: $34,243 - $37,418 per annum
(Position Grade: FP-5)

(includes 16.52% overseas locality pay)

SALARY LEVEL WILL BE BASED ON PRIOR JOB-RELATED EXPERIENCE AND SALARY HISTORY.
