Researchers
We are looking to hire two full-time researchers for our foreign policy team, a senior research fellow and a research fellow. Though we are looking primarily for foreign policy researchers, additional expertise on the EU itself – and the debate over its future – would also be desirable.
Applicants for the post of senior research fellow should have at least seven years of experience in think-tanks, the corporate world or government. They should also have experience of managing teams of people – and be willing to take on management and organisational tasks.
Applicants for the post of research fellow should have at least three years of experience in think-tanks, the corporate world or government.
The areas of foreign policy expertise that we are looking for – for both posts – include:
• Russia and its neighbourhood
• China
• The Arab world
• EU foreign policy in general
• The future of Europe debate, including EU institutions
Applicants should ideally have expertise in several of these areas. Applicants for both positions should be able to write well in clear, simple English, with an emphasis on a journalistic rather than an academic style. They should be willing to edit and should ideally have editing experience. They should be motivated to influence policy at EU and national level. They must be comfortable with public speaking and media interviews. They should also be willing to help raise money for the CER, organise events, meet deadlines, work in a team and generally be versatile.
Start date: Applicants should be willing to start in September 2012.
Location: The CER is based in London, but applicants should be willing to travel.
Salary: This would depend on the candidate's experience, but the CER offers competitive salaries. We have a generous pension scheme.
