USAID awarded a comprehensive health service delivery project to PATH to improve the health of Kenyans in the western region of the country. The project, APHIAplus Western Kenya, builds upon USAID/Kenya’s country-wide health service support project known as the AIDS, Population and Health Integrated Assistance II (APHIA II). PATH and its partners are implementing the APHIAplus project in Western and Nyanza Provinces from January 1, 2011 to December 31, 2015. It is working closely with the Government of Kenya and a wide variety of non-government agencies to strengthen health care services throughout the two provinces. In addition to addressing specific diseases, the APHIAplus Western Kenya project works to strengthen the region’s health care system by rehabilitating health facilities, training staff, and supporting supply and communication networks.

PATH Kenya Country program is seeking to recruit three Finance Assistants to work on the APHIAplus Western Kenya project. The Finance Assistants will be responsible for managing petty cash and conducting daily reconciliation of the same, preparing monthly bank reconciliations, assisting in the preparation of monthly FOFR, inventory management and provision of documents for the quarterly audits and printing all support documentation for RATs and PMTS payments. Specific responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Check MPESA documentations and upload payments into the electronic banking platform.
  • Check accuracy of receipts and vouchers presented to back up expenses.
  • Posting payment transactions into QuickBooks.
  • Uploading vendor payments and staff advances into the electronic banking platform.
  • Check validity of expenses and receipts for reasonableness, allowability and allocability.
  • Liaise with the accountant to ensure that expenses recurring in nature are processed and paid in time.
  • Reconcile all supplier statements to PATH records and advise of any discrepancies.
  • Prepare sets of the originals and scanned documents and send to IAS team.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage a complex and diverse work load and to work within tight deadlines
  • Detail oriented, high degree of accuracy and strong analytical skills
  • Excellent computer proficiency particularly working with spread sheets and databases
  • Proficiency in accounting packages, especially Quickbooks
Required Experience

A degree in commerce, business, accounting or finance plus three years of experience working on donor funded projects. Accounting qualifications such as CPA or ACCA up to level II is preferred.
