Strategy and Investment Analysts , Big Society Capital
Big Society Capital (BSC) is the world’s first wholesale social investment company. Our mission is to build a sustainable UK social investment market, through the careful investment of up to £600m of our own capital base and by acting as a champion of the market in general.
We’re now recruiting for a number of positions across our Strategy and Investment teams:
Analysts joining our Strategy and Market Development team will help determine which markets BSC should invest and how, guided always by correcting capital market failure and maximising social impact. And, with BSC’s partners, you will help strengthen the social investment environment – be it the investment readiness ‘ecosystem’, the tax and regulatory framework, or helping to set an industry-wide research agenda. Analysts will report directly to the Director of Strategy and Market Development.
You will likely have a background in strategy consulting, social entrepreneurship, a highprofile part of the public sector, or investment banking; or a combination thereof. You will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and will be a clear communicator in front of high-profile audiences.
Associates or Directors joining our Investment team will help us shape the social investment landscape in the UK. The team both responds to applications made to BSC and proactively work with the Strategy team in order to determine key areas of market failure and investment opportunity. Associates and Directors will report to the Chief Investment Officer.
It is likely you will have a background in finance to work on analysing and developing investment opportunities for our capital. Associates will have at least 2 years of financial experience in private equity, venture capital, investment banking or investment management, and Directors at least 5 years. Deal execution skills and experience managing private investments would be particularly pertinent but not an absolute requirement.
Please apply by sending a short CV and 1 page covering letter setting out why you are interested in the position, to Emma Ivory at jobs@bigsocietycapital.com
