We promote democracy, advance development and celebrate diversity. We are the association of 54 countries who share the common values of peace, security and sustainable development.
Our Political Affairs Division leads the promotion of democracy and good governance and provides the Secretary-General with advice and support on political issues, many of which are highly sensitive.
Reporting to the Head of Africa Section, you will monitor international developments enabling you to provide policy advice and recommendations.
This will involve research; preparing and disseminating briefing materials, papers, speeches and outcomes; travelling on missions and participating in seminars; and ensuring the smooth running of election observer missions and good offices operations.
With a relevant degree, such as political science on international relations, and several years’ in international affairs, ideally you will have expertise in developing countries, preferably in Africa.
A national of a Commonwealth country, you must be able to operate effectively in our multi-cultural setting.
