Research Fellow – Agricultural Development and Policy
ODI aims to inspire and inform policy and practice to reduce poverty by locking together high-quality applied research and practical policy advice.
The Agricultural Development and Policy programme aims to support the design and implementation of effective policies and programmes on agriculture and a range of other issues at the rural-urban interface which benefit the poor in developing countries.
The Agricultural Development and Policy programme is expanding its work on issues related to climate-smart agriculture, linking this to longstanding work on rural livelihoods, food security and resilience. About the job • Research and policy advisory work: conducting high-quality applied research • Fundraising: attracting funds through bids and marketing, including the development of a substantial personal research portfolio • Public affairs: disseminating and promoting the programme’s work and ideas.
About you You will have: • experience of analysis of the impacts of climate change, adaptation to climate change, and its mitigation, preferably as applies in rural areas of developing countries • experience of policy-orientated research, demonstrated by a track record of publications and reports • extensive developing-country experience • strong analytical skills, a capacity to write clearly, and excellent organisational and oral communication skills • a demonstrated capacity for policy advisory or public-affairs work, based on an analytical approach and innovative and creative communications ability • project management and excellent communication skills • ability to translate research ideas into fundable projects
