Global Partnerships Team Manager for the Region of the Americas.

We are currently seeking to recruit a Global Partnerships Team Manager for the Region of the Americas.

About the Role

Working in 50 developing countries across Asia, Africa and the Americas, Plan aims to reach as many children as possible, particularly those who are excluded or marginalized with high quality programs that deliver long lasting benefits by increasing its income, working in partnership with others and operating effectively.

The Global Partnerships Team develops relationships with multinational corporations, acting as the catalyst within Plan to evolve the way the organization works with companies. Working closely with Plan National and Country Offices within the Americas, this post supports the worldwide activities of the Global Partnerships Team, through new business development, knowledge sharing, capacity building and networking.

Area of Responsibility: National and Country Offices within the Americas (inc. USA and Canada)

Target new business: KPIs will be based as follows:

Year 1 – 1 secured, new business, multinational partnership

Year 2 – 2 secured, new business, multinational partnerships

Year 3 – 2 secured, new business, multinational partnerships

Year 4 – 2 secured, new business, multinational partnerships

Reports on sub-strategy for corporate partnerships in ROA region and produces 6 monthly progress reports against targets

Typical Responsibilities/deliverables:

New business secured through corporate partnerships annually in the ROA region as per KPIs

  1. Provide a full range of account management services, including research to assess potential of new corporate partnerships, deal pitches, relationship and project management, and reporting;
  2. Monitor industry trends and developments for innovative corporate partnerships;
  3. Representational work promoting Plan’s interests and matching them with the Private Sector.

Strategy for ROA partnership development incorporated and action-planned into global strategy

  1. Analysis of opportunities for partnership;
  2. Clear guidance to organization regarding risks/reasons to avoid etc.;
  3. Proposed strategic choices;
  4. Business plans.

Capacity of CO and NO teams developed for pursuit of corporate partnerships

  1. Provide technical and strategic advice in the implementation of corporate partnerships;
  2. Deliver on-going coordination between National Offices in support of multinational partnerships;
  3. Act as global support point for all general corporate partnership enquiries;
  4. Provide liaison services between National Offices, Country Offices and the ROA Regional Office;
  5. Develop proposal templates for Plan offices pitching new business proposals;
  6. Provide risk management support, including screening reports and assessment guidance;
  7. Support the creation of standardised partnership documentation (MoUs, frameworks).

Enhance Private Sector Collaboration amongst National, Country & ROA Regional Offices

  1. Assist taskforce development to build incentives and structures for internal collaboration;
  2. Support the development of cross-border credit sharing for all National Offices;
  3. Initiate a ‘Community of Practice’ for sharing technical expertise across offices;
  4. Design and institute a system of matching staff (mentoring) between all Plan Offices;
  5. Develop training calendar & materials (with third parties) to provide Skills development/training.

Drive Innovation through Transformative Private Sector Partnerships

  1. Promote piloting and scaling-up of innovative practices;
  2. Assist the benchmarking of Plan’s existing innovative programmes by sector and thematic areas.

Establish a Knowledge Management (KM) platform for corporate partnerships

  1. Assist in the development of a centralised platform for mapping relationships, company research, due diligence, tracking and reporting;
  2. Increase the exchange of skills, knowledge and expertise between Plan Offices;
  3. Facilitate regular Plan-wide and regional corporate team meetings;
  4. Share corporate case studies that combine best practice with key learnings;

Raise Profile of External Partnerships and Pursue Networking Opportunities

  1. Provide PR support to raise the profile of corporate partnerships;
  2. Develop key messages (‘Value Proposition’) for business, adaptable to local contexts;
  3. Monitor and advise on consistent and effective brand/logo use for corporate partnerships;
  4. Drive Organization’s business forum engagement throughout ROA and develop relationships with business leaders through attendance at regional and global events;

Dealing with Problems:

The role requires a high degree of independence, and involves considerable demonstrable expertise in negotiating the complexities of multi-national corporate engagement, enhancing collaboration between Plan offices and developing the capacity of Plan staff worldwide. The successful candidate will: apply his/her direct knowledge of how to resolve difficulties within external relationships (both at the initiation stage and throughout the lifecycle of the partnerships); successfully secure buy-in of multiple stakeholders despite conflicting objectives; respond to internal challenges, in particular how to secure adequate resources from various Plan offices (technical and account management) to support corporate partnerships; and deliver consistent and effective capacity-building training within a challenging, multi-cultural environment.

Key colleagues in IH, ROA, NOs and COs across the Americas Region (inc. USA & Canada)

External

Regular contact will also be required with corporate partners, generally at very senior-levels (including C-Level executives), in order to develop and maintain emerging private sector partnerships.

Knowledge, Skills, and Behaviours required to achieve Role’s Objectives:

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of NGO-private sector partnerships required, inc. trends in CSR and corporate philanthropy
  • Familiarity with the development of private sector partnerships (throughout the partnership cycle)

Skills

  • External client management, including at senior levels
  • Effective internal relationship management and communications, within an international environment
  • Communicates effectively and personably
  • Strong research, organisational abilities, presentation and negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated financial acumen
  • Good writing and editing skills, including fluent written and spoken Spanish + English
  • Portuguese language a distinct advantage
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines

Location and Travel:

Based from the Panama Regional Office with 30-40% travel within the region and international.

Language:

Fluent in Spanish and English. Portuguese an advantage.

Type of Role: 5 year fixed term contract

Reports to: Head of Global Corporate Partnerships Team

Salary: Grade E,US$40,800 to $50,000 per annum plus full expat benefits. This is an accompanied position and a full relocation package will be available.
