Senior Environmental Consultant URS London

URS are recruiting for a Senior Environmental Consultant to join our Global Development Team. The position is primarily based in London, although there is flexibility to work out of our other UK Offices.

As a Senior Environmental Consultant, you will have experience in environmental management of projects including: environmental & social impact assessment, environmental monitoring & audit, and environmental management plans/systems design. Experience of social impact assessment and related subjects is also a benefit.

Members of project teams will frequently be part of a multi-disciplined team supporting overall project evaluation and development consultancy services. You will be responsible for providing independent professional opinions on client’s development projects. Working with our teams of in-house technical specialists, you will be responsible for the management and delivery of full environmental and social impact assessments, as well as management of permitting and regulatory application processes.

You will work on projects around the world in a variety of market sectors, and will be required to assess projects in a wide range of international jurisdictions ranging from developed to undeveloped countries. You should therefore be able to work independently as well as part of the team and be willing to travel overseas on short assignments. You will also help in directing less experienced environmental consultants within the team to fulfill their potential and develop their career.

You should have experience in project assessment and evaluation against international standards, including, ideally, the IFC Performance Standards, Equator Principles and/or World Bank Safeguard Policies. You will also have in-depth experience with a range of environmental impacts and current mitigation and management technologies.

You will have good communication skills both verbal and written, including preparation of technical opinion reports and Proposals. You will also have business development capability with a client oriented approach.

You will be based in the UK, but will be required to travel nationally and internationally.
